Derek James, Preacher
Although Derek claims Winchester, OH as his hometown, he did not move there until the summer before his freshman year of high school. It was during his time at North Adams High School (Seaman, OH) that he met his soul mate and future wife, Liz. After graduating high school, Derek went on to study Music Ministry at Kentucky Christian University, followed a year later by Liz.
It was during his time there that Derek came to realize that he was gifted in youth work and preaching. For that reason he and Liz chose to transfer to Johnson Bible College (now Johnson University) in Knoxville TN where he double majored in Preaching and Youth Ministry.
Following two years at Johnson, Derek and Liz moved back home where they were given the opportunity to be the interns at the Countryside Church of Christ in Seaman, OH. Upon the completion of their internship, Derek began his first youth ministry in 2011 at the Waverly (OH) Church of Christ.
He has since spent more than six years in ministry and began at Farmdale in January of 2018. Derek has a great passion for the growth of the Lord’s church and is excited to be a member of the leadership at Farmdale. He greatly anticipates what the future holds for him, his family, and the church as he continues to serve here.
When Derek is not working, he enjoys spending as much time as possible with Liz and their three children, Daniel, Eva, and Kenslee. Derek also greatly enjoys grilling out, watching movies, and playing many musical instruments.
